351 orphans benefit from ZPCS CG’s Fund

MASVINGO CITY-The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, Commissioner General’s Goodwill Fund Trust has seen 351 orphans benefiting with tuition, examination and school fees at various levels of their education up to tertiary.
The fund which was established by the late General Paradzai Zimondi in 2014 has transformed the lives of widows and orphans of ex members through financial relief gotten from fundraising activities chief among them annual golf tournaments.
This year’s Commissioner General’s Goodwill Fund Trust golf tournament was held at Masvingo Golf Club, where the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs was the guest of honour.
Chadzamira paid tribute to the organisers of the successful tournament which raised in excess of US10 000, the target which was set by the committee chaired by prominent businessman, Sternly Kondongwe.
“The success of charities usually comes from the commitment brought by those individuals and organisations like you who took it upon yourselves to extend their open handedness to the needy, the turn out is very pleasing.
“From its inception, the Fund managed to fund 351 orphans with tuition, examination and school fees at various levels from primary, secondary and tertiary.
“If we know how this little but great action we are offering is impacting the lives of many, we would cry tears of joy and live to know how much we have contributed to the welfare of other people in society.
“Many of the students who have benefited from this fund are doing very well in their various spheres of life,” said Chadzamira.
Besides playing golf the players also took part in the auctioning of rooms and dinner from Regency Group Hotels doted across the country and golf jerseys, with that of the ZPCS Commissioner General, Moses Chihobvu fetching a whopping US$300.
Chadzamira also appealed to the committee to continue raising the target of the fund from US$10 000 so that it can benefit more widows, widowers and orphans from the ZPCS.
He also said sport plays a crucial role in the health of the citizens as well as more worthwhile when it is done for the welfare of others, like in this case the ZPCS beneficiaries.
The premier fundraising tournament was sponsored by Byword Motors, Jadecon Engineering, Great Zimbabwe Realtors, Econet Wireless Group, Perfect Panel Beaters, Eben Hardware, Steward Bank, Bab Maka Investments, Chingwanga Investments, OK Mart, Nyuni Lodge, Chivi North MP, Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa, Regency Hotels, Moonlight Life Assurance, HR Suppliers, Masvingo City Town Clerk, Eng Edward Mukaratirwa, WEDO, Lulu Events, Great Zimbabwe University and Murozvi Chickens.
Nyaradzo Group, Masvingo Show Society, Punungwe Puwevhu, Babra Mtandwa NMB Masvingo Branch Manager, Mujuru, Director Zimplats and many other individuals sponsored the highly successful fundraising.
The event was also grace by, Deputy Commissioner General, Social Ndanga who was representing, CG Chihobvu, Masvingo Province MPs, Auxillia Dhanzi, Brian Mudhumi, Provincial JOC members, Officer Commanding Midlands Province, Commissioner Saymore Gate, Officer Commanding Masvingo Province, Commissioner Nelson Chikwature and Masvingo Province Golf Union (MPGU) vice president, Peter Nyaruwata among others.
