MUTARE- Three school children have died after a vehicle veered off the road and hit them along Christmas Pass-Shamu Road in Mutare, leaving another injured.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the death of three school children after a vehicle veered off the road along Christmas Pass-Shamu Road on Tuesday (12-3-24).
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which three school pupils were killed whilst another pupil was injured when a Toyota Fortuner vehicle veered off the road to the left and knocked down the pupils who were crossing the road at the 2 kilometer peg along Christmas Pass-Shamu road, Mutare,” said the ZRP.
The ZRP said the deceased were identified by their next of kin as Blessing Chisaria (9), Silvian (13) and Strive (7) Maponde, all from Grange, Toronto-Chirochangu Plot.
The injured pupil is admitted at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital and the bodies of the victims were taken to the mortuary for post mortem at the same hospital.
Police urged motorists to be observant, alert and observe stipulated speed limits to safeguard lives.
