3 men gang up to kill creditor

Date:

MIDWEEK REPORTER

Chipinge- Fungai Kristopher Muyambo (59) of Bako A Village under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge at around 10am on February 5 went to Nomore Mugobo (36)’s homestead to demand his money which he owed him.

Nomore, instead insulted Fungai and promised to assault him and the deceased (Fungai) left the suspect’s homestead.

Fungai went to Rungangare Shops where he was drinking beer with his nephew Kudakwashe Muyambo (22).

At around 8pm they met Nomore who started assaulting Fungai as he had promised earlier when he came to demand his money.

Nomore was restrained by the other two suspects, Mupeto Musayemura (82) and Jabulani Alfred Moyana (48), but they issued more threats to Fungai and promised to deal with him later.

Fungai continued to drink beer at the shops until around 10pm when he fell asleep at the bar.

His nephew Kudakwashe woke him up and dragged him to a verandah where he left him.

Kudakwashe later came back but did not find the deceased where he had left him.

He heard a voice coming from the sorgum field some 200m away from the shops and when he went there to check, he found out that it was Fungai who was crying in pain while lying down and he told him that “those people killed me,”.

Kudakwashe went on to inform Fungai’s son, Charles Muyambo (26) and when they came back they found him already dead.

The matter was reported at Rimai Base and the police went to the scene and discovered that the deceased had bruises on the left eyelid, swollen mouth, swollen left chick and was bleeding through the mouth and ears.

The three suspects Nomore, Mupeto and Jabulani were arrested and are assisting police with investigations according to Manicaland Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.

Chinyoka appealed to the public to desist from solving matters through violence and to engage law enforcement agents in the event of a dispute or misunderstanding.
