Two Zhombe men were arrested for allegedly stabbing to death Nkululeko Mpofu over an undisclosed grudge at Mavula Shopping Centre on Friday evening.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests of Njabulo Moyo, 21, and Progress Moyo, 35, both from Village Mbekiswa, Chief Ntabeni, following the incident that occurred on May 16, 2025.
According to the Midlands Province ZRP spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the deceased, aged 45, was drinking at the Mabengwani bar when the two suspects entered and a misunderstanding erupted.
The situation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which one suspect produced an Okapi knife and fatally stabbed Mpofu.
Despite efforts to seek immediate medical attention at Zhombe Mission Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The suspects were apprehended shortly thereafter, and they are expected to appear in court soon.
Inspector Mahoko reiterated the need for the community to resolve disputes peacefully to prevent violence.
