Masvingo- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Masvingo Provincial spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, has confirmed the arrest and conviction of two men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at Grassland plot in Gutu.
According to Dhewa, Masiyiwa Masendeke of Zengeza 5, Chitungwiza, and Tapiwa Chibasa of Nyamweda, Mhondoro, were arraigned before the Gutu Magistrate Courts, where they were thrown 50 years behind bars.
He said on January 16, 2024, at around 1AM, Masendeke and Chibasa along with four others (still at large), armed with metal bars and a rifle, attacked a miner at the Grasslands Plot in Zoma, Gutu.
The suspects broke into the complainant’s bedroom, assaulted him and his wife, and stole various valuables, including US$18 000, a rifle, cell phones, laptops, and other items.
Insp Dhewa commended the efforts of the investigating team and urge the public to continue supporting the ZRP in search of other suspects connected to this matter.
