Mvuma-Two people died after a vehicle they were travelling in side swiped with an oncoming UD haulage truck along Mvuma Masvingo Road.
The incident which occurred on 14 July 2023 around 830pm was confirmed by Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
“We urge members of the public to obey road traffic laws to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.” Mahoko said.
Mahoko said a white Nissan UD 440 haulage truck towing a trailer with two passengers on board was travelling along Harare-Masvingo Road towards Masvingo direction.
On approaching the 196km peg, just after Gweru Turn Off towards Fairfields Business Centre, an oncoming Toyota Hilux with 4 people on board encroached into the right lane resulting in the vehicles side swiping.
One passenger in the Toyota vehicle died on the spot due to serious head injuries. Three others including the driver of the Hilux were injured but the driver later died upon admission at Mvuma Hospital.
Police at ZRP Mvuma attended the scene and the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mvuma District Hospital.
