MBERENGWA-Mberengwa District schools are in cloud nine following a huge improvement in the 2024 ZIMSEC grade 7 examinations results where two private schools posted 100% pass rate.
In 2023 some schools recorded zero percent pass rate but this year the situation has drastically improved with the least scoring 20%.
All pupils from Great Dyke AB Academy and Mberengwa Christian School passed their examinations and will proceed to secondary school.
Acting District Schools Inspector Silibaziso Bhebe commented that, “My general assessment is that the District has greatly improved. It’s a Milestone from last year’s pass rate. There is no zero percent. The least school is above 20 percent. We are still working on the statistics to get the overall district pass rate.”
The Midweek Watch gathered that at Great Dyke AB Academy a 10 year old girl scooped 7units after skipping grades twice because of her sterling academic performance.
“Bethel Ngulube was born on 16/02/2014. Next year she will still be ten when she proceeds to Form One. She started ECD A at Great Dyke AB Academy at the age of three years. In the same year, she was promoted to ECD B because of her exceptional performance in pre-number and pre-reading. She followed the usual trend from Grade One to Grade Three and thereafter was made to skip Grade four to do Grade Five owing to her sterling performance.
“Bethel remained at the helm of her class to the end of her Primary course,” narrated Ngulube Silence a grade seven teacher at Great Dyke AB Academy as well as the district youngest candidate’s father.
On the other hand, Mberengwa Christian School that opened its doors in 2020 is also holding its fort as it posted impressive results.
It started grade 7 classes in 2021 with 16 learners and got 87.75% overall pass rate, 2022 it had 19 learners and got 93.75%, 2023 it had 21 learners and overall pass rate was 100% then this year 2024, the school had 22 learners and got overall pass rate of 100%.
Ngulube added that, “For your own information, the first and second Grade Seven classes(2021 & 2022) for Mberengwa Christian were under my auspices ,scoring 87.75% &93.75% respectively. In 2023, I moved to Great Dyke where I improved the results from 66.67% to 100% and maintained the pass rate in 2024.”
