“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of a tragic incident that occurred on the evening of Sunday, May 11, following the close of the 2025 FBC Zim Open.

“Five professional golfers who had just participated in the tournament- including two international players were involved in a serious road traffic accident at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Seventh Street in Harare (on Sunday evening),” reads part of the statement.

ZGA described Kombai as a respected member of the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association (ZPGA) not only known for his talent but his humility.

“Based in Zvishavane and representing Rolland Park, Morton was known not only for his talent on course but also for his humility, dedication and love for the game,” further reads the statement.
