The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has officially opened its 2025 Southern Region Inter-Formational Regiments Sports Week at Mucheke Stadium today which will run till Friday, with teams from across the region gathering to compete in various sporting disciplines.
The event marks the beginning of a highly anticipated week of competition and camaraderie among military units participating in disciplines such as football, netball, volleyball, handball, athletics, darts, tug-of-war and many others.
Participating teams include.
– HQ 4 Infantry Brigade (Masvingo)
– HQ 1 Infantry Brigade (Bulawayo)
– HQ 3 Infantry Brigade (Mutare)
– 1 Air Defence Regiment (Kwekwe)
– HQ 5 Infantry Brigade (Kwekwe)
– Bulawayo District
– Commando Regiment (Cranborne, Harare)
The Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony was Deputy Commander of 4 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Jabulani Mulambo who officially declared the games open.
The sports week promotes physical fitness, teamwork, discipline and unity among the army formations while also allowing soldiers to unwind from their demanding duties and strengthen bonds across units.
