Zimbabwe to host India in 5 T20I

GWERU-Zimbabwe Cricket is set to host former world champions, India in five T20I matches in July 2024

The development was announced by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) jointly this week.

The five match series will take place from 6 to 14 July 2024 in Harare, The Midweek Watch has learnt.

Speaking on this development during an interview, ZC chairperson, Tavengwa Mukuhlani expressed optimism over Zimbabwe’s capacity to host one of the biggest games with a huge following with international attraction.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting India for a T20I series in July in what will be our biggest international attraction at home this year.

“The game of cricket has always immensely benefited from India’s influence and dedication to the sport, and I would like to say a huge thank you to the BCCI for committing to tour Zimbabwe once again.

“The significance and magnitude of this tour cannot be over-emphasised.

“Remember this tourney is coming at a time we are working round the clock to re-establish ourselves as a force to reckon with in cricket,” Mukuhlani added.

Board of Control for Cricket in India, secretary Jay Shah said India was happy to assist Zimbabwe in the rebuilding exercise

“The BCCI has always played a pioneering role in contributing to the global cricketing community.

“We understand that it is a period of rebuilding for Zimbabwe and the team needs our support to that effect,” he said.
