Zanu PF must change voting system to suit CAB 3

Date:

-as first past the post can produce a minority parliament

Example only

Constituency A

Total registered 20 voters

Candidates

A

B

C

D

E

Election Results

A…..6 votes

B…..5

C…..4

D….3

E…1

Spoiled 1

The winner is Candidate A with 6 votes out of 20 voters.

This means candidate A is MP but leading a minority in the Constituency.

“This is the same which can happen in Parliament. You have a Parliament of minority. Proportional representative system makes sure every political party is represented by the percentage it got”

“If we have MPs elected through First Past The Post winning with such margins it means we have a Parliament composed of minority representative parliament. The same Parliament is then tasked to vote for President. The President will be a product of minority representative Parliament. He is a very unpopular President. If Zanu PF wants to amend the constitution so that President is elected by Parliament then the electoral system must be amended to Proportional System. This means every voter will be represented in Parliament.”
