This impressive move was just one of the many highlights of the soccer tournament held in Zaka, Chipinda, at the end of 2024.

Mutamba’s remarkable skills on the field are a testament to his journey of transformation, once struggling with drug addiction, Mutamba found a new lease of life through his involvement with Active Fusion Academy, founded by Albert Murwira also the president of Masvingo Province Karate Association.

“The academy has been instrumental in nurturing young talent in Chipinda, providing a platform for children to develop their skills and build their confidence,” said Murwira.

The soccer tournament, sponsored by Murwira, was a resounding success, bringing together six teams from different academies.

The event highlighted the importance of supporting young athletes and promoting sports as a tool for community development. By engaging children in sports, the community has seen a significant reduction in early marriages, drug and substance abuse, and other social ills.

“I am very proud of myself and would want to thank the academy for changing my horrible drug life,” said Mutamba

The success of the tournament and the academy’s programs would not have been possible without the support of Chipinda Primary School head Chomunorwa Mangeya and supportive staff.

The teachers have been instrumental in identifying talent, which the academy has used to develop its teams.

Murwira added that the academy is now set to launch a new program focused on training people with disabilities (PWD) in various sports codes.

As the Active Fusion Academy continues to make a positive impact on the community, it is clear that the future of sports in Chipinda is bright, The Midweek Watch has learnt.

However, the academy needs support to continue its mission, the academy is in need of balls, nets, and kits for training, and is seeking sponsors to improve the club financially.

By supporting the academy, individuals and organizations can help empower young people through sports, promoting a healthier, more disciplined, and inclusive society.
