MIDLANDS – TelOne FC’s quest to return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) is back on track after securing a narrow 1-0 win over Kwekwe United FC at Ziscosteel Sports Club on Saturday.

The victory put the WiFi boys’ campaign back on track after last week’s 3-1 away loss to FC Platinum Under 19.

The team’s inform striker Blessing Sibanda scored the only goal in the first half to secure the points for the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League log leaders.

TelOne FC is now on 46 points, four ahead of second-placed Tongogara FC who beat Blanket Mine 2-0.

There are six matches left before the season ends.

Despite the win, Telone coach Tendai Chikuni is keeping his feet on the ground.

He says he wants his charges to avoid last season’s last-minute heartbreak when they lost out on the sole ticket to the PSL on the last day.

“I think we are not there yet, this league, even the premier league is very tough,” Chikuni said.

“Look at what happened to us last season, it is not easy, so we are trying, we have to take it game by game, we can’t say we have finished with Kwekwe so it’s done. We are now focusing on our next game.”

Elsewhere, third-placed ZPC Munyati Fc kept pace with the leaders with a convincing 3-1 away win at Midlands State University FC (MSU), while fourth-placed Chapungu FC also got the better of Loss Control FC with a 2-0 win in Zvishavane.

Shabanie Mine FC also thrashed Dulibadzimu FC 3-1 at Maglas Stadium on Sunday.
