Water to the communities

Date:

By Aaron Gono

Those who live in the Middle East understand the importance of water. In southern Africa water is abundant. Due to climate change, the resource is becoming scarce and the southerners also understand that without water, every task becomes hard to achieve.

Currently the government of Zimbabwe is moving with solarization at new and old boreholes in all the rural communities, installing solar panels and water tanks.

The days of hand pumps in rural areas is now a relic of antiquity. In ward 21, Kureva village, Nyamandi, Chirumanzu l came face to face with this marvel.

The water is powered by 5 x 330 watts solar panels and water is stored in 2 x 5000 litres tanks. The Kureva community members now have an unlimited source of water to cater for their daily needs and their horticultural water demands.
