Mberengwa- In a shocking act of vigilantism, two brothers set on fire to two huts belonging to villagers in Greenspan, resulting in the destruction of property worth US$930.

Hut on fire.

According to the police, the incident occurred on November 20, 2024, in Village 3B under Chief Bvute Mberengwa.

The two suspects, Jabulani Mazani and Kudakwashe Moyo, allegedly approached Oneday Mlilo, 26, and accused him of murdering their relative.

When Oneday fled, the brothers set his hut on fire.

They then proceeded to torch the hut belonging to Clere Mlilo, 28, and fled the scene.

Both huts were reduced to ashes in the attack, which the police are now investigating.

“We are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the suspects,” said Midlands province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

“We again and continuously urge members of the public to allow the judicial process to be followed when criminal cases happen and not be judges themselves when they are wronged.”

Insp Mahoko urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the apprehension of the two brothers.

He also emphasized the importance of allowing the legal system to take its course in such matters, rather than resorting to vigilante actions.
