Veteran scribe, Chisoko appointed into Zimpapers board

Veteran media practitioner and former Herald assistant editor, George Chisoko has been appointed into The Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) board of directors.
Chisoko is among the seven non executive directors who were recently appointed into Zimpapers board according to a statement released by the only listed media company in the country’s secretary, Dephine Tomana recently.
His appointment is with effect January 9, 2024 the statement reads.
Chisoko is a seasoned media and communication practitioner whose wide professional experience spans over 20 years in the areas of media communication, marketing and public relations.
He once served as a senior assistant editor of the Zimpapers flagship daily newspaper, The Herald from 2009 to 2017.
He joined Zimpapers in 2001 and worked in various capacities until 2017.
Chisoko also known as Soks by his peers in the profession is currently the director for media in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services which is headed by Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere.
He holds a National Diploma in Mass Communication, a Bcomm (Hons) in Marketing Management, a Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) and is a PhD Candidate in Strategic Management.
The Midweek Watch senior content manager, Nkulumani Mlambo welcomed the appointment of a journalist into the board of Zimpapers as a positive development for the fraternity.
“It is gratifying for one of us to be recognised in such a big way, serving as a director in the Ministry and being in a board of a listed company for a journalist is something that we should all celebrate as it shows a paradigm shift in the way the Ministry is now operating.
“He is one person who appreciates the operations of the industry and would obviously prioritise the issues of the media industry which he has worked in for decades.
“He will definitely champion our cause in the ministry considering the rough patch that the media industry is going through at the moment,” said Mlambo.
