Thousands bid farewell to Fr. Mudhanganyi

MASVINGO – Thousands of people from all walks of life converged at St. Patrick’s Gokomere Mission yesterday to pay their final respects to Rev. Fr. Peter Mudhanganyi, a dedicated servant of God who passed away on July 14, 2024.

Masvingo Diocese Bishop Raymond Mupandasekwa led the funeral mass which was also attended by the Zimbabwe Association of Diocesan Priests (ZADC).

His legacy punctuated by his humorous sermons will be remembered through the countless lives he touched, and his dedication to his faith and community will be deeply missed, said speaker after speaker at the funeral.

Rev. Fr. Peter Mudhanganyi was born in 1980, in Masvingo and was ordained as a priest on August 23, 2009, at St. Patrick’s Gokomere Mission after having worked as a fuel attended at Mucheke Total Service Station.

 He served at various missions throughout his ministry and was a passionate advocate for vocations and counseling.

 He was baptized at St. Patrick’s Gokomere Mission on April 8, 1992, and attended Nemarundwi Primary School and Kushinga Secondary School.

 He began his journey to priesthood at Mazowe Pre-Major Seminary in 2002 and went on to study at St. Augustine Major Seminary and Regional Major Seminary Chishawasha. He was ordained as a deacon on December 13, 2008, and as a priest on August 23, 2009.
