MASVINGO-Zimbabwe Women Football Super League debutants, Masvingo based Shine Shine Queens FC have extended a begging bowl to the corporate world and well wishers for sponsorship in order to be able to fufill their fixtiures around the country in the forthcoming season.
Shine Shine Queens aka SS Queens were promoted into the women soccer super league from the ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1 last year, but they lack consistaent sponsorship for a kit, playing balls, training kit, transport, allowances and other provisons to properly execute their mandate.
The team which has been living from hand to mouth since its formation in 2017 may find it impossible to compete in the super league as they have not even paid their affiliation fee of US$400 three months after being confirmed champions of Eastern Region, said Takaendesa Mavesere the coach who also doubles up as the secretary general of the outfit.
“We are appealing for donations in any form to enable the team to pay affiliation fees and fulfill the 2023 fixtures in the Zimbabwe Women National Super League.
“The sponsorship will help to keep the young girls away from vices such as drug and substance abuse, early child marriages and many social ills caused by idleness. We are appealing for soccer balls, jerseys, tracksuits, training bibs, medication, sanitary ware, stadium bookings, food, football boots, administration funds and transport for away games. We would also appreciate if we can get some seed capital to implement one of the few business ideas that we have, that would enable us to self sustain on other basics during the season,” said Mavesere.
The 2023 football season begins in early March and the team is rushing against time said the youthful coach who is the brains behind the SS Queens FC.
For the whole season the team rquires in excess of US$20 000.
