VUNGU-Zanu PF primary elections losing candidate who is the incumbent MP for Vungu Constituency in the Midlands Province, Omega Sibanda has thrown his weight behind the winner, Brown Ndlovu.

Th development follows the recent confirmation of results by the ruling party across the province which opened the room for campaigns ahead of the upcoming harmonised elections, The Midweek can reveal.

Speaking in Vungu where senior party officials were visiting chiefs and headmen to drum up support for the coming elections, Sibanda, said Ndlovu was a qualified and mature politician who knows the party well and is capable of spearheading development for the people.

“I cannot comment much, but we are happy as a party, Ndlovu knows the tactics of winning. He is a very experienced politician who knows what should be done,” said Sibanda.

“As you know Zanu PF is a democratic party, every 5 years we go for primaries and people choose candidates they want to represent them.

“So as we are meeting our chiefs we are saying, we are coming to you as your children, help us, allow us to meet your people as we gunner votes for President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa ahead of the harmonised elections.

“We want President Mnangagwa to win resoundingly, we are happy because all the people in this rural setup are saying they know not any other party except Zanu PF, the party which liberated them from the jaws of white supremacy. So, we are going to have more votes coming from our people who believe in this party,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu added that, Zanu PF was going to get a clean swipe in all the Citizens Coalition for Change strongholds in the area.

“The constituency belongs to the people, the party belongs to the people, and the people have assured us. So, am going to work with our MP Cde Sibanda on the projects he started.

“We have projects which are pending and we want them completed for the benefit of the communities we serve. We have established a constituency center so that we facilitate our meetings between councillors and ward chairmen. We want the finalisation of all the development projects in our constituency together.” Ndlovu said.

Meanwhile, 2million people participated in the just ended Zanu PF primary elections and the party expressed confidence of sweeping aside CCC challenge.
