A Shurugwi man only identified as Mthabisi was yesterday stabbed to death by his peer over a girlfriend whom they shared.
The suspect Elijah Govere (20) and the now deceased had a misunderstanding regarding a girlfriend they were unknowingly dating concurrently.
The heinous act occurred on May, 2, 2024 at around 7pm, at Chakawa mine tuckshop, Bonsor in Shurugwi.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, told The Midweek Watch that a scuffle ensued over a love triangle.
According to Mahoko, Govere allegedly drew a homemade knife from his waist and stabbed Mthabisi four times in the left thigh and left shoulder.
Mthabisi immediately fell to the ground and was rushed to Shurugwi District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Insp Mahoko stated that Govera was arrested, and a homemade knife used in the commission of the crime was recovered from him.
He urged members of the public to desist from engaging in violence as a means of solving misunderstandings.
