Shock! … as boy (9) kills friend (8)

CHIPINGE-In a bizarre incident that has left Chipinge residents shell shocked, a nine year old boy killed his friend when they were playing by kicking and punching all over the body.

Manicaland Provincial Deputy Police Spokesperson Assistant Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident which happened at Machona Village under Chief Garahwa in Chipinge.

Circumstances are that on August 31 at around 10am, Ngoni Mutetwa (8) and his twin brother were left at their homestead in Machona village by their mother Jane Khumbula when she went to attend a church service.

The two boys left for Madondo homestead a distance of about 120meters away from their home to play with accused nine year old boy.

At around 5pm while they were playing, the accused allegedly kicked Ngoni on the left knee with a barefoot and he fell on the ground. While Ngoni was laying on the ground, the accused allegedly started punching him with fists all the body. He also kicked him on the back and chest.

Ngoni and his twin brother went back home and the two did not report the incident to their mother.

On September 1, Khumbula discovered that Ngoni had a swollen leg and limping in pain. She took him to St Peters Mission Hospital for treatment.

On September 2, Ngoni began complaining of abdominal pains and Khumbula took him back to St Peters Hospital where he was admitted.

Khumbula then forced him to reveal what happened and he narrated the whole ordeal.  A Police report was made at Chisumbanje Police Station.

While in hospital, Ngoni’s condition deteriorated and was transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries on September 6 at 11am.

Police have since arrested the 9 year old boy for murder.
