MASVINGO-A 33-year-old Masvingo woman, accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy, has been denied bail and remanded in custody.

The alleged abuse comes days after the release of a video which has gone viral where a Chipinge Chief threatens to arrest te owner of the bar if under age children are found drinking alcohol.
“Tikawana mwana mudoridori arimubhawa Tinosunga mwene webhawa….” goes the famous line in the video.
The accused, Madeline Mangezi, a known socialite and former student of Ndarama High School, is facing aggravated indecent assault charges under Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
According to court records, the latest incident occurred on 20 September 2025 at Yeukai Bottle Store in Masvingo.
Mangezi was reportedly drinking beer when she encountered the minor, who was inside the premises watching television.
She allegedly bought him alcohol and later proposed sexual intercourse, the boy reportedly got into her vehicle, and she drove to a bushy area near Target Kopje, where she is said to have engaged in unprotected sex with him.
After the act, Mangezi allegedly demanded US$10 from the child, referring to it as “payment for the short time.”
The two allegedly spent the night inside her car before she dropped him at Mbudzi Business Centre the next morning.
When the boy returned home at 5PM on 21 September, his mother confronted him, and he eventually revealed the ordeal.
She immediately took him to ZRP Chikato to report the matter. Police referred the minor to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for medical examination. The medical affidavit and birth certificate are set to be presented in court as evidence.
Residents are outraged, claiming this is not the first time Mangezi has allegedly preyed on young boys. Last year on June 12 2024 she appeared in court, being accused of sexually exploiting a Form 4 student under similar circumstances, but she was not charged.
The community further allege that she has a pattern of targeting teenage boys around the same time each year, with some suspecting black magic.
“This is no longer just a case, it is a pattern. The law must send a clear message that children, whether male or female, are not sexual objects,” said one resident who witnessed the court proceedings.
