BIKITA- In a developmental motive, Zanu-PF Politiburo member, Retired Lieutenant General Engelbert Rugeje has donated medical equipment worth US$50 000 to Roman Catholic Church run Silveira Hospital in Bikita District.

The donation was received today (Tuesday, 02 June 2026) by the Priest -In -Charge  and medical staff at the Roman Catholic-run institution.

Lt Gen Rugeje confirmed the development in an interview with The Midweek Watch.

“I have donated a number of medical equipment which include medicines, injections and protective clothing to be used at the hospital.

“This is a plough back to the local community where I come from and it’s not a showoff, I sourced the goods from my close friends and well-wishers who know me from long back after I presented to them our predicament at the important hospital in the district,” he said.

The donation has come when the country’s most public hospitals are grappling with shortages of medical equipment, staff and critical drugs.

The generous donation comes at a time when some ‘wealthy’ Zanu PF allies tenderpreneurs are gifting individuals and churches with vehicles worth millions of dollars and cash whilst the health delivery system is crumbling.
