MILLICENT HUNGWE
MASVINGO-Rodgers Irimayi, Masvingo Province Information Officer, is a shining example of academic perseverance and dedication to national development through education, media, and public administration.
His academic journey, marked by impressive milestones, is a testament to the power of lifelong learning and the value of blending theory with practice.
In 2025, Irimayi graduated with a Master of Business Administration in Public Management from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), completing the two-year programme that began in 2023. The degree was pursued through one of NUST’s affiliate institutions, the Zimbabwe Public Service Academy in Darwendale, an institution focused on shaping effective and ethical public sector leaders.
What makes this achievement even more notable is that it marks his second master’s degree.
A decade earlier, in 2013, Irimayi had completed a Master of Science in Journalism and Media Studies with NUST, laying the foundation for his continued influence in both the media and public information spaces.
“As they always say, ‘The sky is the limit.’ I see no reason to stop pursuing whatever educational targets I set. To others I say: do not get tired—your dreams are achievable. Just proceed, because life is what you make out of it,” said Irimayi.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Irimayi is currently advancing his academic credentials even further by pursuing a PhD in Media and Culture Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, focusing on research that bridges media, identity, and governance in Southern Africa.
His academic foundation is just as solid. Irimayi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, a Bachelor of Technology in Education Management, and two diplomas, one in education, and another in journalism and professional writing.
This diverse academic background not only equips him with critical technical knowledge but also reflects his interdisciplinary approach to leadership and communication.
As Provincial Information Officer, Rodgers Irimayi continues to champion responsible journalism, accurate public communication, and evidence-based policy implementation.
His journey is more than a list of qualifications, it’s a clear message to young professionals across Zimbabwe that continuous learning and service go hand in hand.
Irimayi’s story is one of discipline, ambition, and national commitment, a narrative that inspires both public servants and communicators alike.
