Pedestrian fatally hit by car in Gutu

MASVINGO – Emily Monga (34) from Serima in Gutu was hit by a Honda Fit at the 34km peg along Chatsworth-Kurai Road last week, The Midweek Watch has learnt.

Masvingo police provincial spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the accident.

Dhewa said that the car which belongs to Agrippa Tatisai(44) who stays in Gonville in Gutu was being driven by Valentine Mabhachi(24) who resides in Mpandawana.

Mabhachi was alone at around 7pm on July 13, and as he was approaching the 34km peg he hit Monga with the left front fender of the car.

Monga fell o the road and the car veered off the road and hit an electricity pole and stopped.

Monga was taken to Gutu Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival after sustainig serious back injuries.
