Pamushana to host D1 promotional playoffs

BIKITA-Forgotten soccer powerhouse, Pamushana High School in Bikita District will host the annual ZIFA Masvingo Province Division 1 promotional playoffs involving 10 teams from Division 2.

ZIFA Masvingo Province board chairman, Nabioth Magwizi told The Midweek Watch that they decided to hold the one day soccer fiesta at Pamushana High because there are enough football pitches to accommodate the 10 teams.

“Only one team will be promoted into the Eastern Region Soccer League Division 1 after the games at Pamushana which will host the play offs on December 16. How the teams will be paired will be decided on the play offs day and we are expecting exciting football on the day,” said the soft spoken Magwizi.

The 10 teams were drawn from Bikita, Zaka, Chiredzi and Masvingo districts.

Wonders FC and FC Canwaves both from Chiredzi, Nofield FC, Bikita FC and Nyika FC from Bikita, from Zaka there is Chiremwaremwa Pirates FC and Rangers FC and from Masvingo District there is Great Zimbabwe University FC, Amayeza FC and Masvingo Christian College FC.

The team that comes out tops will receive a floating trophy and promotion into Division 1.

Magwizi said the play offs were necessitated by lack of funds by clubs which cannot afford to travel all over the province to fulfill fixtures hence they decided to have the play offs at one venue and on a single day to reduce costs.
