CHIPINGE-Zanu Pf member, Robert ‘Chatogo’ Nyemudzo who won and lost the primary elections for Chipinge South to Enock Porusangazi is vehemently denying that he called for bhora musango in the August 23 and 24 harmonised elections.
Nyemudzo is accused of masterminding the loss of the Chipinge South Constituency to the opposition CCC after he allegedly encouraged Zanu PF supporters to do the infamous bhora musango.
Nyemudzo is set to appear before the provincial disciplinary committee in Mutare tomorrow facing allegations of orchestrating a bhora musango which led to the party’s failure to win in Chipinge South. Nyemudzo is also accused of celebrating Zanu Pf’s loss in Chipinge South and creating parallel structures.
Zanu Pf ‘s Enoch Porusingasi lost to CCC Clifford Hlatswayo.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch this afternoon, Nyemudzo said he is keen to attend the hearing tomorrow in Mutare so that he gets to know more about the allegations.
“Yes I have a disciplinary hearing tomorrow. I am being accused of funding bhora musango, that I celebrated when the party lost and I am also accused of campaigning for DCC chairmanship. I will be going to Mutare tomorrow. Of all these allegations, I’m surprised how I can fund bhora musango. How can I pay somebody for bhora musango. I also want to understand it tomorrow? I want to know what is really happening,” he said.
Nyemudzo pledged to remain a Zanu PF candidate even if the disciplinary committee do not judge in his favour.
“After this disciplinary hearing, I will remain in Zanu Pf. I won’t leave the party because of certain people. I will still contest in the next elections as long as I have support. If people continue to support me, I will contest but if they are no longer interested in me I will quit and as per their wish,” he said.
Nyemudzo had emerged victorious in the Zanu Pf by-elections held in March after beating Porusingasi by 4733 votes against 1585.
Nyemudzo was later disqualified on allegations of brewing illicit beer-mukozodo. He was convicted by Chipinge Resident Magistrate Franklin Mukwananzi and was sentenced to two years in jail. His charge was contravening the harmful Liquids Act chapter 9:10
In May, Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda granted him zw$500 000 bail.
