Nemamwa boy (17) in custody for stealing US$600, R4k, cellphones

MASVINGO – A boy (17) from Nemamwa has been remanded in custody for unlawful entry and theft of US$601, R3 800, one Vivo cellphone, Huawei cellphone from a woman who resides at the popular Chibaya Complex at Nemamwa Growth Point in Masvingo Rural.

It is the State case that on 10 November, 2023 at around 2200hrs, the complainant Violet Makamba, who resides at Chibaya Complex at Nemamwa Business Center, left his place of residence and went to Venus Bar and the accused unlawfully entered her house without her consent and took US$601 and ZAR3 800, one Vivo cellphone, Hauwei cellphone and left.

The complainant was later advised by the security guards that somebody was in the shop during her absence. When she returned, she found out that some of her property and money was stolen and the accused had left a bag with bottles of beer.

The complainant then confronted a friend who had been sent by the accused to collect the bag which was left in the room earlier and they led them to the accused and he was apprehended.

Of all the money and goods that were stolen, only US$49, ZAR200 and Huawei cellphone was recovered.
