Murderer killed in yet another scuffle

In an opera movie style, a Gweru man who struck Takudzwa Chipadza (19) to death with a beer bottle was on the early hours of Monday stabbed to death during yet another beef scuffle.
The first incident took place at Tatenda Bottle Store in Mkoba 14, while the second incident took place at Bvudzijena Night Club in Mkoba 16.
Courage Sibanda (19) died on the spot after he was stabbed on the chest by Courage Hwani and Vusa Vashuro at Bvudzijena Night Club, Mkoba 16 after an altercation.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the two murder incidents.
Insp Mahoko said that on Monday early morning around 3am, Hwani pulled out a knife and stabbed Doubt Ngwenya and Sibanda once each on the chests. Sibanda died on the spot and Hwani disappeared from the scene.
“A report was made to the police and investigations established that the now deceased Sibanda was one of the suspects in the Mkoba 14 murder of Takudzwa Chipadza,” said Insp Mahoko.
He said a follow up led to the arrest of Hwani for the Mkoba 16 murder, with sibanda’s co-accused, Ngwenya who had sustained a stab wound during Chipadza’s murder at Mkoba 14, locked in police custody while Vashuro is still at large.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that around 11pm last Sunday, before Sibanda was murdered, he together with Ngwenya approached Chipadza and demanded beer but he refused.
“This did not go down well with Sibanda who hit Chipadza with an empty beer bottle once on the head,” said Insp Mahoko.
He said when Chipadza tried to run away, the duo pursued and caught up with him before indiscriminately assaulting him all over his body and left him lying unconsciously.
His dead body was found the following morning by passer-by’s and had stab wounds.
He said the Police districts are currently enforcing Prohibition Orders and anyone found carrying dangerous weapons in a public place will be arrested for contravening the Law and Order Maintenance Act.
