Mukurokoza body dumped at Mashava police doorstep

 A 42 year old man believed to have been murdered in a beer brawl was yesterday morning found lifeless  at Mashava police station premises with deep cuts on the chest and a swollen forehead.

The man was identified as Davison Zvenherera of village 15 Mukosi in Masvingo Rural who was last seen drinking beer at Legacy Night Club before his lifeless body was discovered in the wee hours of 1 August.  

Legacy Nightclub is situated at Balmain business center, Mashava and its patronage is dominated by artisanal gold miners from in and around the asbestos rich township.

The premises share a boundary with ZRP Mashava station, demarcated only by a security fence.

The liquor outlet is owned by the informant Ngonidzashe Marongwe who is usually present upon closure of business on a daily basis.

“On the 1st day of August 2024 at around 0330 hours, the informant closed his business for the day and left his premise driving home. Just as he approached the corner post of ZRP Mashava boundary fence, about 50 metres from his premise, the informant discovered the body of the deceased lying on its back facing upwards.

“The informant disembarked from his vehicle to take a closer look and discovered that the deceased’s body was lifeless. He rushed to ZRP Mashava Charge office and made a report,” reads part on a police internal memo under RRB 5967966

Scene was attended by details from CID Mashava, Mashava DUB and Canine Masvingo.

The body of the deceased was inspected upon which it was observed that the forehead was swollen, with some bruises. The body had a sharp, deep stab wound on the left part of the chest.

The deceased was wearing a red t-shirt, black trousers, rafters and a wool hat.

Searches were conducted on the body leading to the recovery of a photo-copy of his national identity card showing his name.

Masvingo Province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the unfortunate incident.
