MASVINGO RURAL-Brian Mudumi, the Member of Parliament for the Masvingo North Constituency, has undertaken a significant initiative to bolster education for disadvantaged schools in the area.

His recent contributions include the donation of educational materials and footwear to St. Michaels Matova School in Ward 3 and Maraire School in Ward 2, both situated under Chief Zimuto.

At Matova primary, Mudumi provided a collection of exercise books and 50 pairs of shoes, a gesture which was met with acclaim from the school’s head, Tawanda Ndlovu.

Ndlovu expressed optimism regarding the potential for improved academic performance following the donation. Additionally, Ward 3 Councillor Chikoore Jadiel was grateful to Mudumi for his gesture.

Conversely, during his visit to Maraire, Mudumi expressed dissatisfaction with the school’s physical condition, labeling it as “dilapidated” and in urgent need of renovations.

His assessment pointed to the necessity for the institution to pursue alternative funding avenues, such as engaging in poultry farming, to mitigate dependency on tuition fees for infrastructural improvements.

Trust Mugabe, Vice Chairman of the ZANU PF Masvingo Province, resonated with Mudumi’s concerns, highlighting the school’s substandard state and setting a deadline for necessary improvements.

He urged collaboration between parents and the School Development Committee to effectuate these changes, also acknowledging Mudumi’s efforts and calling on other MPs to invest in educational advancements within their jurisdictions.

In a complementary development, Mudumi has also allocated a suite of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to Mutatiri Primary School to facilitate the implementation of Education 5.0. This donation comprises 15 laptops, a Starlink internet kit, an HP printer, and a smart board.

School Head Addylight Tofarirepi expressed gratitude for the resources and pledged to ensure that the technology benefits students directly, rather than being limited to the teaching staff.

Ward 2 Councillor Samuel Imbayago lauded Mudumi’s proactive approach, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in enhancing education.
