Minister Chadzamira commissions Ndarama underground water
MILLICENT HUNGWE
The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira has commissioned underground water for Ndarama High School in Mucheke.
The borehole which was commissioned recently by Minister Chadzamira will go a long way in alleviating water shortages at one of the biggest secondary schools in Masvingo Province which also has hot seating.
The borehole drilling at Ndarama High is part of government efforts to bring water to all the communities and learning institutions in the country.
Minister Chadzamira said, “We are committed to empowering our schools and communities by providing them with clean and portable water throughout the year.”
Permanent Secretary of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Addmore Pazvakavambwa emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting schools in need.
He said, “We encourage any school facing challenges to approach us for assistance, however schools with enough budget must drill boreholes on their own to lessen the burden on the central government as it will be able to spread the program to areas that are incapable of doing it on their own.”
He highlighted that the government’s program is focusing on fish ponds, drip irrigation for nutritional gardens, and access to clean water.
Ndarama head, Oddy Matongo, expressed his gratitude for the government’s intervention, stating that the borehole has solved the school’s water challenges.
A parent at the school, Gideon Handi echoed the same sentiments, noting that the new borehole will promote hygiene and improve the overall learning environment for students.
