CHIPINGE-The Police has advised members of the public who have or stay with relatives suffering from mental illness to always monitor them and ensure that they take their medication as prescribed by their doctors.
The warning follows an unfortunate incident which happened in Chipinge yesterday when a suspected mental patient, Benjamin Sithole struck a three year old girl on the head with a hoe after her mother refused to give him some vegetables.
Sithole has since been arrested and is assisting Police with investigations.
“Police in Chipinge have arrested a suspected mental patient, Benjamin Sithole (28) in connection with a case of murder in which Agnes Sigauke (3) died after being struck with a hoe on the head at Mwatsaka Village, Mutema on 30/12/23.
“The victim’s mother (20) had refused to give the suspect some vegetables,” said a statement from the Police in The Midweek Watch’s possession.
