Masvingo Christian College in the heart of Mucheke Suburb bagged the respected Best Recycling Initiative award for the City Council.

The award was won courtesy of the school’s Environment Management Agency Club, led by its patron, senior teacher Aaron Mudhefi.
Mudhefi, expressed gratitude to the school’s head, Dr. Edson Mureshewa, for his unwavering support in the club’s initiatives.
“We are thrilled to have received this award, and we could not have done it without the headmaster’s guidance and encouragement,” Mudhefi said.
“The school’s environmental conservation efforts extend beyond the recycling initiative. In 2023, the School was recognised as the cleanest school in Masvingo and third best nationally, the school’s environmental club, EMA Club, engages in various projects, including litter gathering and separation of waste into different categories such as paper, plastic, and ordinary waste,”
“The plastics collected are sold to companies like Stable Packaging, with the proceeds used to support underprivileged learners and sustain the club’s projects,” Mudhefi added.
Junior High School achieved second place in the same category highlighting its increased awareness and efforts towards sustainability in the province.
