Masvingo RDC chief executive’s father laid to rest

Masvingo Rural District Council chief executive officer, Martin Mubviro’s father, Richard Mubviro Mataruse who died on Tuesday was laid to rest at his homestead in Mataruse Village under Chief Charumbira last Friday.

He was 72.

Marry Mataruse, a sister to the deceased told The Midweek Watch that the death of their brother came as a shock because he was on the path to recovery from tuberculosis he died.

“Our brother Richard was on the path to recovery after being discharged from Makurira Memorial Clinic, unfortunately God had other ideas as he died while on his way to hospital on Tuesday (21/5/24).

“It will be difficult for us to come to terms with the loss, he was a strong pillar to lean on for the whole family. Very quiet, hard working, calculative and generous, we have lost a father figure in the family,” said Marry.

Tens of people from all walks of life attended the burial and speaker after speaker spoke glowingly about Richard Mubviro Mataruse.

 He was born in a family of 11, six girls and 5 boys.  He grew up in Mabondo Village under Chief Charumbira. 

Richard Mubviro was a driver by profession and worked for Marvo Printers in both Rhodesia and Botswana and after Independence he came back to Zimbabwe and worked for Tanda Tavaruva aka Mhunga Bus Services.

He crossed the border once again to South Africa and later on retired and came back home.

He is survived by his wife, and several children with Martin Mubviro being the first born.
