Masvingo man stabbed to death for refusing to pay cash up-front for short time

CHIPINGE -A 43 year old Masvingo man was stabbed to death for refusing to pay cash up-front to a thigh vendor.
Manicaland Provincial Deputy Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident which happened recently at Helani Night Club at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point.
Thomas Mapfuti of Chief Charumbira, Masvingo Rural who was employed as a general hand at Malata Furniture at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point died after being stabbed several times by sex worker.
Circumstances are that on November 26 at around 0400 hours, Mapfuti hooked up with a thigh vendor, Fungai Kufakwatenzi (31) of Pfupa Village under Chief Chamutsa in Buhera and started drinking beer. The two knew each other before and Mapfuti used to hire her for her services.
While they were drinking beer, they were joined by Kufakwatenzi’s brother Onismore Tonha (34).
Mapfuti asked to have sexual intercourse with Kufakwatenzi and he was charged US$5 for short time.
Kufakwatenzi and Mapfuti left the night club heading to Mapfuti’s residence. Before arriving to Mapfuti’s place of residence, Kufakwatenzi demanded cash up-front and Mapfuti refused to pay, saying that he was going to pay after the services.
The two were drunk and started quarreling over the payment and Mapfuti got furious, pushed Kufakwatenzi on the wall.
Kufakwatenzi drew a knife from her bra and stabbed Mapfuti once on the forehead and once on the right shoulder.
Tonha heard his sister screaming he followed and joined the fight.
He then took the knife from Kufakwatenzi and stabbed Mapfuti once on the neck and once on the back resulting in Mapfuti bleeding profusely.
Kenani Zaranyika a police constabulary who was coming from his duties heard Mapfuti screaming for help. He rushed to the scene and Tonha ran away leaving Kufakwatenzi with Mapfuti lying helpless on the ground.
Kufakwatenzi tried to render first aid to Mapfuti and later hired a Honda fit and ferried him to Birchenough Bridge Hospital for medication.
Zaranyika made a report of assault at Birchenough Bridge Police post and the scene was attended at.
Mapfuti later passed away and it was discovered that he had deep cuts on the forehead, neck, shoulder and on the back.
Tonha and Kufakwatenzi were arrested.
