Zanu PF Masvingo Province’s first resolution on their list for the forthcoming People’s Conference is that President Mnangagwa should continue beyond his two term constitutional limit.

Masvingo was the first province soon after the 2023 harmonised elections to propose that President Mnangagwa should continue until 2030 and this was followed by his home province of Midlands and Manicaland.

The President has been forced on three occasions to publicly declare that he is a constitutionalist and would not seek a third term in office but analyst say this is how politicians behave, they indicate left but turn right.

Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial chairman, Rabson Mavhenyengwa told The Midweek Watch that they resolved long back that President Mnangagwa should continue to rule beyond 2028.

He said the second resolution is to congratulate the President for assuming the rotational SADC chairmanship among other resolutions on social, economic and gender issues.

The 21st National People’s Conference is scheduled to take place from October 26 to 29 at Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in in the second city of Bulawayo.

As part of the preparations, the province will hold an accreditation meeting this Sunday for delegates who will represent Masvingo at the conference.

Mavenyengwa, confirmed that the province has already submitted its resolutions to the national executive and this Sunday’s meeting will be the final step in accrediting delegates

“The conference’s theme is “Industrialise and modernise towards the attainment of Vision 2030, and reflects the party’s goal of achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030,” he said.

The party’s secretary general, Obert Mpofu is on record saying they are trimming the number of delegates for the conference as they want a leaner delegation which will be able to debate and come up with achievable resolutions.

Mavhenyengwa highlighted one of the Masvingo Province resolutions aligned with Vision 2030, demonstrating the province’s commitment to the party’s national objectives.

The conference will provide a platform for discussions on various aspects, including the party’s achievements, economic growth, food security, and poverty eradication.
