The plane was a small passenger Cessna 206 aircraft owned by mining house, RioZim which crashed around 8am on its way to Murowa Mine from Harare.

According to some experts who attended the accident scene soon after the plane crash, the plane developed a mechanical fault while in the air as it was making a U-turn following fog detection in the air which made it difficult for the journey to continue.
