Man dies in Great Zimbabwe road crash

MASVINGO-Gerald Tapiwa Mutangabende (40) tragically lost his life in the early hours of October 19 after a fatal road traffic accident along the Masvingo–Great Zimbabwe road.

According to a statement by ZRP Masvingo Province deputy spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, the incident occurred at around 1:30 AM at the 3km peg.

Mutangabende, who was travelling alone and heading northbound, reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The car, overturned several times, and eventually landed on its left side.

He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

His body was later taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.

Police say investigations into the accident are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when driving at night, especially along curved or less-visible road sections.
