Lower-Gwelo – Police confirms a murder case where a 39 year-old man succumbed to stab wounds following a long standing grudge with his rivals. The incident occurred on 24 December 2024 at around 2300 hours at Village Madigane under Chief Sogwala in Lower Gweru.
Circumstances are that the now deceased Nqobizitha Mazibuko was killed when he met his assailants along a gravel road which leads from Madigane Business Centre.
The suspects Thabani Mpofu, Nqabutho Bhebhe and Nkosilathi, all with no further particulars supplied, reminded him that he once assaulted one of them some time ago and it was now time to revenge.
The now deceased ran away but the suspects chased, caught up with him and stabbed him. An eye witness tried to stop the duo but his efforts were in vain. After the assault, the suspects ran away.
On 25 December 2024 at around 0500 hours, Mazibuko was found lying dead on the road. ZRP Maboleni attended the scene and is investigating the case.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said a manhunt has since been launched to apprehend the suspects.
“We are appealing for information that may help in arresting the named suspects. We continuously urge members of the public to desist from resorting to violence as a solution to solving differences.” Mahoko said.
