A Mucheke landlord was left nursing a swollen forehead after being pummeled by his 19 year old tenant over a 20 liter bucket of bath water.
Shalom Mazani 19 was not asked to plead when he appeared before Masvingo Magistrate, Ivy Jaoma facing assault and damage to property charges.
He was remanded in custody to 25 January for trial and the state applied for the accused to be examined by two mental doctors after exhibiting traits of drug induced mental instability, when he appeared in court
Prosecutor, Godknows Mungodo told the court that on 8 January this year at a house in Mucheke suburb, Mazani took a 20 liter bucket full of water, which was in the house with an intention to take a bath .
Court was told that this did not go down well with Mazani’s landlord Kevin Musabaya who told the accused not to use the water since he, Musabaya wanted to use it to bath later in the evening.
Court heard that there was a heated exchange of words over the issue resulting in Mazani picking up stones that were in the yard and throwing them towards his landlord.
One of the stones hit Musabaya on the head and he fell down, as if that was not enough, Mazani followed up and mounted on top of his landlord and severely assaulted him on the face using clenched fists.
As a result of the assault, Mazani was left nursing a swollen forehead and a medical report was produced in court as evidence.
Mazani after assaulting his landlord went on a rampage and destroyed window panes, he only stopped after police who had been called in came and arrested him.
