Four of the seven Grain Marketing Board (GMB) silos in Kwekwe district are complete and the construction is now at 80% complete for the remaining three. Once complete, the seven silos have a storage capacity of 56 000 metric tons of grain.
The GMB silos are the first of their kind with drying and cleaning facilities, Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Owen Ncube has said. He added that the silos are strategic as they sustain milling industries along the value agricultural chain both upstream and downstream, creating employment and sustaining livelihoods.
Minister Ncube was speaking at a media tour for impact projects in the Midlands province spearheaded by the second republic.
The media tour was organized by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
