ZVISHAVANE – For the past week the name John ‘Senior’ Phiri has been on many football fans’ lips as to which club should he join between TelOne FC and Bikita Minerals FC.

Phiri who is clubless this season is talk of the town in the football circles with two vacant spots available in the Castle Lager PSL.

Bikita Minerals have seen their head coach Saul Chaminuka move to Green Fuel and TelOne FC’s head coach Tendai Chikuni has thrown in the towel after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of Chegutu Pirates FC.

Phiri has a good record with Shabanie Mine FC and was part of the coaching staff that brought FC Platinum into the Premier Soccer League.

He also has had a stint with Bikita Minerals until Covid 19 broke the relationship.

Himself being a respected former soccer player has made strides in developing football in the country.

Speaking to The Midweek Watch Anesu Moyo said that TelOne should get the signature of Phiri if they are to survive relegation.

“John has a reputation of saving teams and he does that with distinction, he did it with Shabanie Mine FC a lot of times he should remain in the Midlands and at least for once serve a Central Region team being eliminated again in the Premier Soccer League”, he said.

Shelton Sithole has different sentiments as he highlighted that he has an uncompleted job at Bikita Minerals which he should go and solve.

John Phiri is a holder of CAF B coaching license.
