Mutare — Local steel manufacturer Invictus Steel Africa has been hailed as a shining example of how indigenous enterprises can drive industrial growth, create jobs and support Zimbabwe’s economic transformation.

The company received praise from Government officials on 27 July 2025 when Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Senator Monica Mutsvangwa toured its operations in Mutare, where she highlighted the important role being played by local businesses in strengthening the manufacturing sector.

The visit came shortly after Invictus Steel Africa was recognised as the best steel producing company at the recently held Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Awards Indaba in Harare.

Sen Mutsvangwa said the company’s growth demonstrated the potential of locally owned enterprises when supported through policies aimed at promoting investment and industrialisation.

She said Government would continue creating opportunities for MSMEs, particularly those involved in production and value addition, as part of efforts to expand employment opportunities and grow the economy.

“This is one of our MSMEs that is doing exceptionally well in manufacturing. The enabling environment created by President Mnangagwa has allowed indigenous businesses to expand production, adopt modern technology and improve product quality,” said Sen Mutsvangwa. She added that Government remained committed to supporting small businesses through improved market access and investor-friendly policies.

Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza said companies such as Invictus Steel Africa were critical in supporting the province’s construction industry and economic development.

He said the growth of local industries would help reduce reliance on imported products while creating employment opportunities for communities. Invictus Steel Africa director Munyaradzi Shadaya expressed appreciation for Government’s recognition, saying the award had motivated the company to continue expanding its operations.

He said Government programmes supporting MSMEs had encouraged local businesses to invest in production and contribute towards national development.

The tour was conducted ahead of Sen Mutsvangwa’s attendance at a graduation and certification ceremony for women, youths and MSMEs held at Sakubva Beit Hall, where she reiterated Government’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive economic growth.
