Gutu man killed for accusing in law of not taking care of his kids
GUTU-Masvingo Province Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa has confirmed the murder of a man in Gutu who had accused his in law of not taking care of his children.
“Police have arrested Collen Mawere (43) in connection with a case of murder which occurred on December 8, 2023 at Chihambakwe Business Centre, Gutu in which his brother-in- law, Afinos Museka (59) died.
“The suspect assaulted the victim with clenched fists once on the head following a heated dispute in which the victim accused the suspect of failing to take care of his children. The victim subsequently fell on a hard surface and died on the spot,” said Dhewa.
He also said Police in Chikombedzi have arrested Godfree Sibanda (28), Last Lisenga (62), Cosmas Mazvetera (45) and Cephas Siziba (22) in connection with a case of murder in which Peterson Chitsengo (40) died after he was assaulted by the suspects during a beer drinking spree on December 7, 2023 at Mateke Business Centre in Mwenezi.
The victim sustained some head injuries and was admitted at a local hospital where his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to the injuries.
Meanwhile, Police in Gwanda are investigating a fatal hit and run road traffic accident which occurred at the 129 km peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road on December 9, 2023 in which a male adult was killed after he was hit by an unknown motorist who was driving an unknown motor vehicle.
The motorist did not stop after the accident and Police are appealing to anyone with information to report at any nearest station.
