MASVINGO- A 22 -year-old man from Chatsworth in Gutu has been sentenced to 15 years in prison BY Masvingo Magistrate Innocent Bepura for rape.
The rape happened on December 26, 2024 when the accused Tawanda Mungwini (22) met the juvenile (name withheld) who was on her way home alone from a local business centre.
According to court papers, allegations are that, on the day in question, the accused person proposed love to the complainant who turned down the proposal.
The accused person held the complaint’s hands and dragged her into a nearby bush. He removed the complainant’s underwear and placed it into his pocket.
He tipped her to the ground and had sexual intercourse with her once without her consent.
After the incident, the accused person threw the complainant’s away undergarments and went away.
The complainant dressed up and went home where she narrated the incident to her father who took her to the police to file a report.
Mungwini was subsequently arrested and was arraigned before the courts.
