GWERU — All is set for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Midlands Province fundraising golf tournament at Gweru Golf Club tomorrow, with organisers expressing confidence of meeting their target to raise funds for the expansion of ZRP Umguza High School.
Zimbabwe Republic Police, Officer Commanding Midlands Province, Commissioner Patson Nyabadza (pictured) said preparations for the tournament were complete, with sponsorship and participation having reached about 85% of the target.
“We are encouraged by the response from the corporate sector and other stakeholders. We have already achieved about 85% of our sponsorship and participation target, and we are optimistic of a successful event,” Nyabadza said.
The tournament, which starts at 7am and concludes with a fundraising dinner at 6pm, will bring together golfers, Government officials, corporate sponsors and development partners to raise funds for additional classroom blocks and boarding facilities at the school.
Nyabadza appealed to companies, organisations and individuals yet to support the initiative to do so through sponsorship, tournament participation, direct donations or contributions of building materials.
“Every contribution will go towards improving learning infrastructure for our children. We also encourage businesses to use the event as a platform to market their products and services while supporting a worthy cause,” he said.
The Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, is expected to be the guest of honour.
The fundraising initiative will also be rolled out across the southern region, covering Bulawayo and the Matabeleland provinces, as the ZRP intensifies efforts to mobilise resources for the boarding school project.
