Gokwe- Midlands Police has confirmed a murder case which occurred in Vungwana Plots, Gweru on 17 September 2023 at 8pm.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.
“We urge members of the public to desist from violence and seek other means of settling disputes” he added.
In the incident, the deceased Roy Mbiba was brutally assaulted by four suspects after he armed himself with an iron rod and confronted one Godfrey Ncube (34) of Vungwana North under Headman Moyo in Gweru.
Mbida was accusing Ncube of being a witness against him in criminal case resulting in his conviction and incarceration.
Mbiba then struck Ncube once on the left thigh and once on the back with the iron rod and fled.
The four suspects who witnessed the incident, namely Vusumuzi Nkomo (41), Zwelani Nkomo (37) , Khulumani Ncube (34) and Tichaona Sibanda caught up with Mbiba.
They assaulted him all over the body and he sustained body and head injuries and was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
He was further transferred to Mpilo Hospital where he later died.
A report was made to the police and three suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in court while Tichaona Sibanda is on the run
