GOKWE-A 49-year-old man from Gokwe, under Chief Chireya, tragically passed away after consuming a concoction given by a traditional healer for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.
The traditional healer, MacDonald Ndlovu (49), has since been arrested and is currently in police custody.
According to Midlands Province police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko the late Isaac Kabarapate informed his wife, Chiedza Ndimuranwa, that he started experiencing stomach pains and started vomiting blood soon after taking the herbs given to him by Ndlovu to treat his sexual dysfunction on the morning of March 13.
Kabarapate passed away on his way to Chireya Mission Hospital on March 14, 2024 at around 1 p.m., when his wife and brother rushed him for treatment as his situation was deteriorating.
Mahoko told the Midweek Watch that on the day in question, Chiedza left her husband Kabarapate at home going to her garden at a nearby Ume River.
Upon returning home at around 11 p.m., she was informed by her daughter-in-law that her husband was lying in the bush about 150 meters from their homestead, complaining of stomach pains.
After checking on him, Kabarapate narrated the ordeal to his wife, which led to the subsequent arrest of the traditional healer.
The body of the deceased is currently at United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for a post-mortem examination.
