Gokwe business woman tied up, robbed at knifepoint

GOKWE –In a horrifying incident, a Gokwe Sesame business woman was tied up by a gang of unknown robbers armed with machetes and iron bars.

The robbers ransacked the shop and made off with $1,080 and other valuable assets.

The incident occurred on July 31, 2024, at around 2 a.m. at the Sesame Business Centre in Gokwe.

 Harugumi Shumba (40) was asleep in her shop when three unknown men broke through the back door and gained entry.

The gang was armed with machetes and iron bars, and they tied Shumba’s hands with shoelaces before pouncing on the shop.

 According to Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the robbers took cash amounting to $1,080, a Tecno cell phone, and various clothing items.

The police are now appealing for any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits behind the unlawful entry and robbery.

They are also urging the business community to avoid keeping large sums of cash in their shops or homes.
